La Grange ISD Western Art Winners Named

The La Grange ISD winners of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo artwork contest have been selected and are shown below. These works will move on to the next round of judging and will hang in the Hayloft Gallery at the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo. The La Grange HLSR Community Western Art Show will be held on Saturday, February 10. It will be open to the public from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. in the La Grange High School cafeteria.

A wet weather pattern developed across the eastern half of Texas last Sunday, when a large trough of low pressure from the Pacific pushed inland and stalled over the desert Southwest. The wind flowing through the trough has allowed a series of small disturbances to track around the trough and northeast across Mexico, then across Texas. The first of these disturbances arrived Sunday night, causing widespread soaking rains over an area generally along and east of Interstate 35.

In response to some information from Progressive Health Group published in the Jan. 19 Record about their attempt to acquire the closed La Grange hospital, St. Mark’s Medical Center Board Chair Dudley Piland provides this response: “St.Mark’sisgladthatPHG (Progressive Health Group) is still interested in acquiring the hospital. After all, we have the same goal to return some level of hospital services to our community. With that being said, several of the statements made by PHG’s Mark Hallman in the January 19 edition of the Fayette County Record need to be put into context.
