$1 Million Bid Awarded for Hope Hill Park

The La Grange City Council awarded a bid for construction of Phase 1 of the Hope Hill Park at their meeting last Monday, Jan. 22..

The six-acre park will be located inside the Hope Hill subdivision off Horton St. – the neighborhood that was built for residents who lost their homes in the 2017 Hurricane Harvey flood.

The City received a $750,000 grant from Texas Parks and Wildlife to help build the park. Gaeke Construction was the only bidder. They submitted a price of $1,121,665. Since there were no other bids, City staff negotiated a price adjustment with Gaeke Construction, and the company lowered their price to $1,028,820.

According to La Grange Parks and Recreation Director Janet Rangel, Phase 1 will include a gazebo with restrooms, playscape, multipurpose sports court, parking, exercise station, walking trails and community garden.

Rangel said construction of Phase 1 should be complete by this September, weather permitting.

Future plans call for a pickleball court, BMX bike trail, more walking trails throughout the park, bird watching blinds, additional exercise stations and additional parking.
