Adult Technology

The South Texas Wheel Spinners & Crank Twisters Antique Farm Equipment Club will hold their annual business meeting on Friday, Feb. 2 at 7:30 p.m. at the Moravia Store. All current members and anyone interested in joining the club are encouraged to attend.

Training

Join the Fayette Public Library in La Grange for Adult Technology Training on Saturday, Feb. 3 from 10 a.m. to noon. All computer questions are welcome. No one is born knowing this stuff. If your computer is giving you problems, bring it along. Eight seats are available. Registration is required. Call (979) 968-3765 to sign up.

La Grange Church of Christ Seminar

La Grange Church of Christ will be hosting a seminar with Dr. Eddie Sharp this Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 3-4, beginning at 9 a.m. Dr. Sharp is an author and engaging speaker. He has taught at Abilene Christian University and was the longtime minister at the University Church of Christ in Abilene. He will be speaking on the topic Grace in a Graceless World. This seminar is free and open to the public. Coffee, donuts, and other breakfast items will be available.

There’s more The Sealy Lions Dance Club dance will be held on Saturday, Feb. 3 at the Sealy American Legion Hall. Scott Wilkinson and EZ Country will be providing live music from 7:30 to 11 p.m. The public is welcome.

Czech Heritage Society Social

Fayette County Czech Heritage Society will hold its annual soup social on Sunday, Feb. 4 at 2 p.m. at TCHCC in La Grange. Members are asked to bring a big pot of their favorite soup or a snack/dessert to share. Dawn Orsak, author of a soon to be released Czech Cookbook, will be our guest speaker. Bring your family recipes to share with her. New potential members and/or guests are invited to attend. Vítáme Vás!

Bunco Sponsored by CDA No. 1962

Bunco sponsored by CDA Court Annunciation No. 1962, La Grange, will be held Sunday, Feb. 4 at the KC Hall in La Grange. Registration begins at 2 p.m. and Bunco begins at 3 p.m. Tickets are $35. All Sports Booster Club

The La Grange All Sports Booster Club meeting will be held Monday, Feb. 5. The meeting is at the La Grange High School Library at 5:30 pm.

Hermann Sons Life

Hermann Sons Life will have their regular monthly meeting on Wednesday, Feb. 7 at 7 p.m. The lodge will provide chicken fried steak and members are asked to bring sides or desserts.

Meet the Leopards

The spring Meet the Leopards event will be held in the High School Gym on Thursday, Feb. 8. The La Grange All Sports Booster Club will hold a hotdog meal beginning at 6:30 p.m. with program to follow at 7:15 p.m.

Texas Lutheran Writers Round Up Community members are welcome to attend the 5th annual Lutheran Writers Round Up at Faith Lutheran High School on Friday, Feb. 9, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. FLHS is located at 600 FM 1482 in Warda. The day begins with a live broadcast of Sharper Iron at 8 a.m. with host Rev. Timothy Appel interviewing Rev. Brian Kachelmeier and Rev. Dustin Beck. At 9 a.m. there are two Bible studies from which to choose, one led by Donna Snow on her book “Unshakable,” and the other led by Rev. Bryan Wolfmueller on his book “Has American Christianity Failed?” After a group opening at 10 a.m. there are adult and student breakout sessions during the morning and afternoon (with lunch provided at noon). Adults will be in the main fellowship hall, while student groups will move from classroom to classroom. Featured authors include Sarah Baughman, La Grange resident Charles Hebert, Christina Hergenrader, Rev. Brian Kachelmeier, Rev. Chris Kennedy, Lee County resident Ruth Meyer, Donna Snow, and Rev. Bryan Wolfmueller. If you plan to be there for lunch, RSVP to FLHS at (979) 242-2889 for planning purposes. Community members are welcome to attend any or all of the sessions throughout the day.

Community Bible Study

Community Bible Study is now registering for classes in La Grange. Come and join for fellowship and study God’s word. The purpose is to support one another through the study of Scripture and encourage one another to walk closer to Christ each day. CBS is a non-denominational study. Classes will be held Wednesdays, 10:30 a.m.-12:15 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church and Thursdays, 6-7:45 p.m. at First Baptist Church. CBS will begin a study of Ephesians starting Feb. 15. Fund Raiser for Community Theatre Join us in raising funds for our community theatre Saturday, Feb. 17 at Historic Casino Hall in La Grange at 5:30 p.m. Enjoy a delicious meal with friends and family and then watch local talent in a performance of “God of Carnage.” A question and answer session will follow, allowing you to interact with the cast and crew. Dinner will start with a caesar salad, followed with roasted beef matched with scalloped potatoes and braised carrots. For dessert enjoy a play-inspired clafouti. Tickets are available at faycotheatre.com or at the Box Office located at 120 South Washington, just off the square in La Grange.

Gay Hill Missionary Baptist Church Gay Hill Missionary Baptist Church located at 7003 E. Hwy. 71 in La Grange holds Sunday School on the first and third Sundays of the month at 9:30 a.m. with morning Worship is at 10:15 a.m. with Pastor J. Caldwell.

Texas Women’s League Spring Gala Join the Texas Women’s League Saturday, March 2 for the Spring Gala at the Fayette County Fairgrounds Fair Pavilion. This annual event raises funds to benefit charities serving Fayette County with a fun silent and live auction. This year’s meal will be catered by Celebrations Catering and hosted by local auctioneer Lee Fritsch. Sponsorships, underwriting and individual tickets available at www.texaswomensleague.org.

Pork Steak Fundraiser

The Holy Cross Youth Group annual pork steak fundraiser will be held Sunday, March 10. Drive-thru only at the Holy Cross picnic grounds in Warda from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Plates are $15 each and include pork steak, green beans, noodles, and corn. This meal is presale only by Thursday, Feb. 29. Tickets are $15 each and may be purchased at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, La Grange Chevron or from any Holy Cross youth group member. There will also be a bake sale with homemade items for a free-will donation.
