Murder Suspect Was on Probation For Home Burglary
Romero was Charged with Stealing from Schulenburg Home in September 2022 The suspect accused of murdering an Edna teen and arrested in Schulenburg last Saturday was on probation for a home burglary that occurred here in 2022. Rafael Govea Romero, 23 of Schulenburg, faces a capital murder charge for allegedly killing 16-year-old Lizbeth Medina, a high school cheerleader from Edna.
Thousands Have a Cup of Cheer at Schmeckenfest
Between 2,000 and 2,200 folks descended on downtown La Grange for Schmeckenfest Thursday to celebrate the Christmas season according La Grange Main Street Manager Caleb Parks.
Beautiful weather helped fuel the big crowds, and some civic groups said they had record fundraising food sales during the event.
The night started with a parade led by the La Grange High School marching band with Santa and Mrs. Claus riding into town on a fire truck before visiting with kids.
Local groups hosted a number of activities from s’more-making to German dancing.

Granger may not see or hear very well but one thing she does know how to do very well may surprise people.
Edna Murder Suspect is Arrested in Schulenburg
Texas Rangers and Edna Police arrested a man Saturday night near Schulenburg who stands accused of murdering a 16-year-old girl from Edna. “With countless hours put into this investigation, we were able to locate an undocumented male subject, Rafael Govea Romero, in the City of Schulenburg,” said Edna Police Chief Rick Boone said in a news release.
