Watts to Hold Book Launch Release and Party at Library
Marie W. Watts and Black Rose Writing are pleased to announce the March 28 release of Marie’s latest novel, “Tough Trail Home,” starring Fayette County, and to invite you to celebrate its release.
Everyone is welcome to attend a free book launch party on March 23, 2024, from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Fayette County Public Library, 855 S. Jefferson, La Grange. Marie will speak from 1 to 1:30 p.m. about what goes on in the mind of a writer, taking questions, and will be available to sign books from 1:30 to 3 p.m.
Her latest work explores a family coming to terms with each other and their new lives.
Set in Fayette County in 2008, the novel follows Lisa Dunwhitty, who needs a new plan. Flourishing until she and her husband lose their careers to the crashing economy, the mom of two insists they move to inherited land out in the country. But when the idyllic ranch of her memories proves to be a crumbling wreck, the dismayed woman is left scrambling to make repairs while her angry spouse hunts for work in Houston.
Fumbling through the trials of feral hogs, invading rodents, and parenting without a parachute, the former city girl slowly finds pleasure in the slower pace of rural life. Yet even as she forges powerful connections with the land and the locals, dwindling funds, split households, and no job offers begin to drive a wedge in her marriage.
Can Lisa mend fences both on the range and in her heart?
