Drabek Named to SAU’s Dean’s List

Abegayle M. Drabek earned a 3.5 GPA or higher in the fall 2023 semester, securing a reputable position on Southern Arkansas University’s Dean’s List. Drabek is a sophomore Animal Science major from La Grange.

Traffic Stop Leads to Felony

Fayette County Sheriff Keith Korenek reports on Tuesday morning around noon, Drug Interdiction Investigator David Smith conducted a traffic stop on I-10 westbound at the 661 mile marker on a 2019 grey Volkswagen Jetta for traffic violations. “Upon contact with driver several criminal indicators were observed,” the report said.

A Second Suspect in McDonald’s Robbery Arrested By LGPD

La Grange Police arrested a second suspect allegedly involved in the armed robbery at the McDonald’s Restaurant on Nov. 9, 2023, Police Chief David Gilbreath reports that investigators identified 22-year-old Mikael “PeeWee” Eans of La Grange as one of the suspects who robbed the La Grange McDonald’s at gunpoint on Nov. 9, 2023.

La Grange ISD Western Art Winners Named

The La Grange ISD winners of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo artwork contest have been selected and are shown below. These works will move on to the next round of judging and will hang in the Hayloft Gallery at the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo. The La Grange HLSR Community Western Art Show will be held on Saturday, February 10. It will be open to the public from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. in the La Grange High School cafeteria.

Fayetteville’s Polasek Graduates from Texas State

Emily Loraine Polasek, daughter of Ronnie and Pam Polasek of Willow Springs, graduated from Texas State University summa cum laude with a B.A. in Fine Arts and Communication. Emily attended Fayetteville High School and was a graduate of Blinn College with an Associate of Arts degree.
