Traffic Stop Leads to Drug Arrest

Fayette County Sheriff Keith Korenek reports that on Friday, Jan. 26 the Fayette County Undercover Narcotics Unit initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle in the Flatonia area for a traffic infraction. Narcotics Investigators observed numerous criminal indicators and requested Sgt. Randy Thumann make location and allow his K9 Kolt to check the vehicle for narcotics. The K9 alerted on the vehicle and a probable cause search was initiated.

City and County Water Systems Look at Sharing Infrastructure

The City of La Grange and Fayette Water Supply Corporation (FWSC) agreed to share the cost of a water blending study. FWSC serves customers through two systems of water pipes - one on the east side of the Colorado River and a separate system on the west side of the river.

PharmHouse Drug Closes in La Grange

PharmHouse Drug Store at the intersection of Highway 77 and Business 71 in La Grange closed this Wednesday. A worker at the store told the Record that the company notified employees last Wednesday that the store would close for good at 5:30 p.m.

“I lost two of my hundreds-of-years-old live oak trees. The ground is so saturated they just uprooted and fell over,” Charles Murray said while submitting these photos of the two trees that had fallen over at his home on East Walnut Street in La Grange during last week’s massive storms that dropped about a foot of rain in the city over a three-day span. “La Grange Utilities responded within minutes to clear some branches that were on power lines.”

The Colorado Valley Quilt Guild members recently attended the “Improv” workshop with Michelle Lavender. Michelle is from HollyDee Quilts in Luling, she demonstrated the many ways to transform scraps into quilts, using a “wonky” cut and a really open mind. Her unique way of cutting and piecing was amazing.
