A Fayette County Jury has found Charles Lee Tillman Jr. guilty of murder for killing David Harrison Jr. in 2021. The jury returned the verdict Friday.

Tillman was quickly named a suspect after Harrison was found shot to death at the River Valley Apartments in La Grange on May 30, 2021. He evaded arrest for more than five months before being arrested Nov. 9, 2021 in Killeen. For a time, he was on the state’s 10 most wanted list.

Tillman is from Missouri City, and investigators said he has ties to Weimar, Smithville and Houston.

Sentencing will begin on Monday. Look for more in Friday’s paper.

Harrison Jr. was 40 when he was killed. He was born in San Antonio where his father, David Harrison Sr. was stationed in the Air Force. The family later moved to Spain. For a time Harrison Jr. lived with his mom in Florida before coming to La Grange in the mid-1990s to live with his dad, a La Grange native, who worked for 13 years at the Fayette Power Project. Eventually Harrison Sr. moved to Katy, but Harrison Jr. stayed in La Grange, working in Austin and more recently for a house leveling business prior to his murder.
