St. Rose Band Competes in Yoakum

St. Rose of Lima Catholic School band students had the opportunity to compete at the Yoakum Bulldog Band Invitational Solo and Ensemble Contest on Saturday, May 4, in Yoakum.

Fayette County 4-H Competes in Buc Days Food Challenge Contest

Several Fayette County 4-H members competed in the Buc Days Food Challenge Contest on Saturday, May 11, in Corpus Christi. The Fayette County 4-H Junior Team, The Beefmasters, consisting of Kloey Noska, Tate Fritsch, and Emory Malota was named the Grand Champion Junior Team.
Champion Intermediate Team: Buc Days Representative, Kandon Kaspar, Scotti Beseda, HEB Representative, MacKayla Griffin, and Hailey Janish.

Chess Classes Offered

Chess classes will be offered to young and old beginning May 28 at the Weimar Public Library. Classes will meet every Tuesday from 10 to 11 a.m.
Instructor David McCall will offer chess classes at the Weimar Public Library starting May 28.

LG Rancher Brings Longhorns to Texas Farm Bureau State Office

Two Texas longhorns made an appearance at Texas Farm Bureau’s state office in Waco on May 15, thanks to local La Grange rancher Ralph Fisher. The longhorns were part of evening entertainment during the American Farm Bureau Federation’s Communications Conference hosted in Waco.

Colonel Lori Thurman Tapley Retires After 25 Years Service

Colonel Lori (Thurman) Tapley (FNP) recently retired from the United States Army Nurse Corp with 25 years of military service. Lori graduated from La Grange High School in 1994 where she enjoyed playing in five sports programs, resulting in letters in basketball, volleyball, softball, track, and Cross Country and was a regional qualifier in track.
