Schulenburg Police Issue Several Traffic Citations Week of July 14-20
Schulenburg Police Chief Troy Brenek reports on the following incidents his department responded to during the week of July 14-20.
Animal Complaint
On July 15, Animal Control Officer Gina Harden was dispatched to the 1200 block of Kallus to pick up a mother dog and two puppies and take to the animal shelter in La Grange. Property owner wanted to surrender the animals.
On July 15, Harden responded to the 600 block of Upton to pick up a dog and take to the animal shelter, as the individual that found the lab mix dog had a change of heart on adopting the dog.
On July 16, Harden responded to the 300 block of Baumgarten and picked up a small dog.
On July 16, Harden investigated the location of buzzards in the 700 block of Baumgarten.
On July 19, Harden received a call from the 300 block of Klesel regarding a complaint about having cat feces under the tenant’s window. Tenant wanted me to pick up the feces and officer explained that we can’t do that.
On July 19, Harden received a call from the 100 block of Russek about a possibly injured cat. Upon arrival the cat was deceased.
Civil Matter
On July 17, Officer Byron Powe responded to the 500 block of Herder regarding a court ordered child exchange.
Disturbance
On July 15, Officer Hailee Vincent was dispatched to the 2000 block of US Hwy. 90 for an assault.
Possession
On July 15, Powe stopped a driver in the 600 block of E. I-10 for a defective headlight. Drugs were seized and the jail refused to accept the female.
Suspicious Vehicle/Person On July 14, Powe observed two vehicles in the 300 block of Simpson with one having a dog outside of the vehicle Officer contacted the adult males. The passenger had no pants on. I had both subjects exit the vehicle. A search was conducted due to the odor of marijuana. A small amount of marijuana was located. Marijuana was disposed of and the subjects released and made to leave the area.
On July 14, Powe observed a subject asleep on the side of a business that was closed in the 57 block of N. Kessler. Subject was identified and made to leave the business.
Traffic Stop
On July 14, Powe stopped a driver in the 600 block of James for failure to drive in a single lane. Driver received a warning, and the vehicle was driven away by a licensed driver.
On July 14, Officer MD Krenek stopped a driver at the intersection of N. Kessler and College for disregarding red light. Driver was issued a warning.
On July 15, Powe stopped a driver in the 600 block of W. I-10 for speeding going 100 in a 75. Driver received a warning for expired registration (624) and a citation for speeding.
On July 15, Powe stopped a driver in the 600 block of W. I-10 for defective headlights. Driver received a warning for defective headlights and citations for no driver’s license and two counts of failure to secure child in safety seat. Passenger who owned the vehicle was issued a citation for permitting an unlicensed driver to drive.
On July 14, Powe stopped a driver for speeding in the 600 block of W. I-10 for going 94 in a 75. Driver received a citation for speeding.
On July 14, Powe stopped a driver for speeding going 95 in a 75 in the 600 block of W. I-10. Driver received citations for speeding and no driver’s license and no insurance.
On July 18, Powe stopped a driver in the 100 block of N. Kessler for speeding going 50 in a 35. Driver received a warning.
On July 19, Powe stopped a driver in the 500 block of Kessler for unregistered motor vehicle (3-23). Driver received citations for operating an unregistered motor vehicle an expired driver’s license (10-15-23).
On July 19, Powe stopped a driver in the 600 block of Kessler for expired registration (10-23). Driver received a warning for expired registration and failure to maintain financial responsibility.
On July 19, Powe stopped a driver in the 600 block of Kessler for expired registration (6-24). Driver received a warning.
On July 19, Powe stopped a driver in the 40 block of N. Kessler for an unregistered motor vehicle (7-18).
On July 20, Powe stopped a driver for defective stop light in the 80 block of N. Kessler. Driver received a warning for defective headlamp and citation for no insurance.
On July 20, Powe stopped a driver for speeding in the 100 block of N. Kessler. Driver received a citation.
Welfare Check
On July 19, Officer Reyden Svatek responded to the 700 block of N. Kessler for a welfare check.
On July 19, Powe responded to the 200 block of W. I-10 frontage road for a welfare check.
