More on the Upcoming Highway 159 Closures

As reported last week, the Texas Department of Transportation plans to close portions of SH 159 north of La Grange for roadwork beginning on June 3. The closures will take place intermittently in order to replace several drainage structures.

A Memorial Day Message From Flatonia’s New Mayor

Major Travis Seale, Assistant Operations Officer, 36th Infantry Division of the United States Army was the guest speaker for The Flatonia American Legion Memorial Day service held on Sunday. Major Seale encouraged the crowd to remember that Memorial Day is a time of both remembrance and celebration. Major Seale stated in his speech that for him personally, Memorial Day it is a time in which he honors those that came before him and to honor those that will protect him and his family in the future. FEC’s Nietsche Retiring After 43 Years of Service

After four decades of dedicated service, Gary Don Nietsche, esteemed general manager of Fayette Electric Cooperative, prepares to embark on his well-deserved retirement on July 1. His journey with Fayette EC began on February 1, 1981, when he joined the cooperative as an assistant to General Manager J.C. Warhol. He decided to take the job because it combined his love of engineering with an opportunity to move back to his hometown of La Grange after a career as a manufacturing engineer with Texas Instruments.

Weimar Now Courting Movie Studio After Fayette Officials Push Back at Project

If Schulenburg doesn’t want the film studio project that hopes to build in this area, Weimar Mayor Milton Koller said his town is interested. Koller told the Record last Friday that he has arranged a meeting with Robert Norris of Creative Innovation Development, the group that wants to buy property in this area for filming Western movies.
