With fall around the corner and the smell of pumpkin spice in the air, I cannot wait for the foliage to change into glorious colors and time to enjoy the cooler weather. On Sept. 16, we kick the week off in Schulenburg with our morning of coffee, conversation, and games. Join us for our meal, starting with King Ranch Chicken from Connie Koopman Catering.

Kevin White with Arts for Rural Texas will stop by for our Lunch and Learn program. We partner with this organization for our Artful Fridays. Hear all their outstanding programs for children and adults in and around Fayette County.

On Tuesday, Sept. 17, we return to Weimar and the First United Methodist Church for our program. You know the routine by now, so join us when you can in the morning from nine o’clock on. We will have coffee ready for you.

Erica Furnace and Wellsential will present the Lunch and Learn program, and she is calling our bingo game.

We will return to Wolter’s Park and Senior Connections in Schulenburg on Wednesday. Our Tarok players will roll in for a card game, dominoes will be shuffled, and volunteers will serve coffee and treats throughout the morning. If you are dropping by just for lunch and bingo, we highly encourage you to arrive by 11:15 a.m. so you do not miss announcements of upcoming events.

Crown Hospice will provide the bingo game for the afternoon. Do not forget to talk like a pirate on the nineteenth; it is the official day to do so, who knew?

Artful Friday at the Arts Center at 1206 Lyons Ave. will start Martha Beckmann‘s two weeks of fun fall crafts.

Our next outing will be to the Casino Hall in La Grange Oct. 27 to see Four Old Broads, a comedy play performed by the Fayette County Players. A signup sheet is available for joining us. Call Stephanie Shroyer at (979) 702-1246 to sign up.

We thank our amazing community for supporting our mission to enhance the lives of our senior population in Fayette, Colorado, and Lavaca counties. We think what we do, providing a safe, happy place for seniors to gather to share a meal with friends, play some games, and win some prizes playing bingo, is a valuable gift. If you know of anyone who could benefit from this, please encourage them to join us. Our doors open at 9 a.m. and close at 2 p.m.

Senior Connections is located at 1111 Bohlmann Ave., Schulenburg; at Flatonia Methodist Church, 403 E. North Main Street, Flatonia; and First United Methodist Church, 301 South College St., Weimar.
