Subject Arrested For Burglary, Unlawful Possession

Fayette County Sheriff Keith Korenek reports on Monday, Sept. 9 around 10:52 p.m. the Fayette County Sheriff’s office received a 911 call reporting a burglary of a residence on Anchor Ranch Loop nearAllen Road in the Flatonia area.

Deputies responding to the scene were advised of a male subject that was armed and entered a residence. Deputy Cody Williams arrived to Anchor Ranch Loop and located a male with strange behavior standing next to a 4 wheeler in the roadway with his hands up.

The male subject was wearing body armor and was detained. A 9 mm gun was in the ditch next to the 4-wheeler. Deputies Duane Meagher, Wesley Arrison, and Sgt. Ben Wilson also responded on scene. Upon investigation it was discovered the male subject’s vehicle had broken down in the roadway. The male then made entry into a residence and stole a Honda ATV which he drove to another property and made entry into a pickup truck where he took the body armor and a 9 mm handgun. The male subject also entered that residence and was confronted by the occupants of the residence which he immediately left.

Deputy Cody Williams arrested 31-year-old Ross Stayton Lester of Gonzales and transported him to the Dan R. Beck Justice Center where he was charged with two counts of burglary of a habitation, unauthorized use of a vehicle, unlawful possession of body armor by a felon, and unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon.
