The Fayette County Elections Office reported a large voter turnout for the first two days of early voting. Early voting began on Monday, Oct.

La Grange has the oldest railroad depot in Texas still in its original location. But that didn’t happen by accident.

Becky Snyder addressed the La Grange school board at Monday night’s meeting, both during the non-agenda item time and the agenda item time. Her topics – school board policy and acquisition of library materials.

Anew, massive mural is underway in downtown La Grange on the side of the Maservey Financial Group Building along Main Street. Avery Houser of Avery O Design of Austin is painting the mural with the help of Sullivan Meservey, a University of Texas art school grad, whose father Mark Meservey runs Meservey Financial.

Thanks to some tough-to-call college games, out of 140 entries in last week’s football pick-it contest sponsored by Farmers Lumber Company there was no one able to correctly predict all 10 games, so the jackpot grows to $400 this week..

American Legion Auxiliary 19th District President Irene Szware joined the October American Legion Auxiliary Unit No. 102 meeting on Oct. 9. She came to present the unit with several Certifi cates of Achievement and Certificates of Appreciation from the American Legion Auxiliary Department of Texas. The Boehnke Reunion was held at the Muldoon Mercantile Building on Saturday, Oct. 5.

Fayette County 4-H members competed in the Fort Bend County Livestock Judging Contest on Saturday, Oct. 5. The Fayette County 4-H Junior Team was the Champion Junior Livestock Judging Team. Team members consisted of Abraham McBride, Abigale McBride, Addison Berckenhoff, and Alexis Berckenhoff. Individually, Abraham was 3rd and Abigale was 9th. Judging as an individual in the Junior Division was Kinley Kutac Hunter Gabler. Judging as an individual in the Senior Division was Kullen Kutac.
