Thanks to The Fayette County Community Theater, the play Four Old Broads is at the historic Casino Hall in La-Grange. The sold-out matinee performance on Sunday, Oct. 27, has 20 plus Senior Connections members attending. We conclude our fun afternoon with a savory meal from Reba’s Pizza.

Second Chance Emporium (SCE) recently donated $12,000 to the AMEN Food Pantry. Monies donated will be used to fund special vouchers for clients to purchase turkeys for the holidays. Additionally, SCE donates $3,000 each month to AMEN to support the cost of food provided weekly to their clients. AMEN’s mission is to provide food to needy families in Fayette County. The Ellinger Chamber of Commerce will host a bingo event on Saturday, Oct. 26 at the chamber hall.

Before casting your vote in this Presidential election, consider the repeated refusals by Republican lawmakers at every level of government that obstruct the efforts by Democratic lawmakers to improve the quality of life for all Americans, except for the corporate and wealthy elite whose money GOP lawmakers rely upon to retain power: 1. Refusal to employ the IRS agents needed to ensure that the corporate and wealthy elite pay their fair share of taxes under current law to reduce the federal debt and decrease interest rates while supporting Trump’s plan to give even more needless tax cuts for big corporations and the super-rich that control them that never trickle down and are used instead to buyback shares that increases corporate wealth without the taxation that would funding needed public investments.

Texas Ramp Project The Texas Ramp Project is a 501(c)3 non-profit that provides free wheelchair ramps to low-income older adults and people with disabilities identified by local health care providers. Ramps are built exclusively with volunteer labor, keeping costs to a minimum and are built without regard to race, religion, ethnicity, age, or gender.
