Locals Pack KC Hall to Remember Jack Cernosek

Fayette County said goodbye to one of its most iconic citizens, Frank Cyril “Jack” Cernosek, during a celebration of his life at the La Grange KC Hall last Friday, June 5. Cernosek passed away at the age of 92 on May 13.

The St. James Episcopal Men’s Club (Holy Smokers) will hold a BBQ and the Episcopal Women a bake sale Saturday, June 13, from 10:30 a.m. - 1 p.m, or until sold out, at 156 N. Monroe St. across from H-E-B. A half chicken is $6 and sausage link is $7, drive through only. This BBQ is for the benefit of Habitat for Humanity.

Grant Will Help Fire Department Replace 1980s-Era Brush Truck

The Winchester Area Volunteer Fire Department soon will replace its broken down 1980s-era brush truck with a new vehicle designed to go off-road and get firefighters to hard-to-reach areas more safely and quickly, thanks to a $25,000 grant from the Lower Colorado River Authority and Bluebonnet Electric Cooperative.
