BBQ & Bake Sale
The St. James Episcopal Men’s Club (Holy Smokers) will hold a BBQ and the Episcopal Women a bake sale Saturday, June 13, from 10:30 a.m. - 1 p.m, or until sold out, at 156 N. Monroe St. across from H-E-B. A half chicken is $6 and sausage link is $7, drive through only. This BBQ is for the benefit of Habitat for Humanity.
Join the Live Oak Chapter of the Native Plant Society of Texas, comprised of Fayette, Lavaca, and Colorado Counties at their next field trip meeting on Saturday, June 13, at 9 a.m. to Monument Hill and Kreische Brewery on the Bluff, and enjoy a presentation with nature walk on the benefits of native plants in our area and on our homesteads.
Flag Day Program
“Old Glory” will become 249 years old on Flag Day, June 14. Fayette County will celebrate this anniversary with song and ceremony in a special program at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 14, on the courthouse lawn in La Grange. Veterans groups will conduct a ceremonial “flag folding” and the presentation of a flag carried by a parachutist at Normandy on the anniversary of D-Day. The public is invited, with free hot dogs to follow.
There’s more Fayette County Community Theatre (FCCT) will host open auditions for Edith Stein by Arthur Giron on Saturday, June 13 from 3-5 p.m. and Sunday, June 14 from 1-3 p.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Fayetteville. The play is a haunting and passionate drama about the Jewish intellectual Edith Stein who converted to Roman Catholicism, joined a Carmelite nunnery and was martyred at Auschwitz. Ledbetter Homecoming
The annual Ledbetter Homecoming will be held Sunday, June 14 at Ledbetter Fireman’s Park. Decoration of the graves at Ledbetter Cemetery with meeting and memorial service will begin at 9:30 a.m. Bingo will follow from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. A pork steak meal with all the trimmings will be served from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. for $15 per plate. Silent auction winners will be announced at 1 p.m. Desserts will be sold by the Ledbetter Homemaker’s Club as well as a country store. This event is sponsored by the Ledbetter Volunteer Fire Department, Ledbetter Homemaker’s Club and the Ledbetter Cemetery Association.
Florida Cemetery Assoc.
The Florida Chapel Cemetery Association will hold its annual meeting on Sunday, June 14, at 2 p.m. at the Muesse Chapel. Meeting is open to the public. Election of officers will be held. VFW Post 5254 and Auxiliary to Meet OnTuesday, June 16, Fayette Memorial VFW Post No. 5254 and Auxiliary of La Grange will meet in the VFW Post Home at the La Grange Fairgrounds; and potential members are invited to attend. Flatonia-Cistern Farm Bureau Meeting Flatonia-Cistern Farm Bureau Dinner and 2026 quarterly meeting will be held on Tuesday, June 16, at the American Legion Hall in Flatonia. Social hour will start at 6 p.m. and dinner will be served at 6:30. The guest speaker will be Lynn Burlbaw, Beekeeper. A business meeting will follow the potluck meal. Members are asked to bring a meat tray, a salad, or a dessert dish.
Hostyn KJT BBQ Pork Steak Dinner The Hostyn KJT Society No. 3 will hold their annual drivethru fundraiser on Wednesday, June 17 from 4-6 p.m. at the La Grange KC Community Center. The barbecue pork steak dinner will include buttered noodles, vegetable blend, and a peach half for $15 a plate. A bake sale will also be held in conjunction to benefit CREW, the Youth of the Hostyn and Plum parishes, with matching funds provided by the KJT Home Office. American Legion Quade-Werchan No. 338
The next meetings of the American Legion Quade-Werchan Post No. 338 and Auxiliary will be held on Thursday, Aug. 6, at their facilities located at 1503 N. State Highway 237, Round Top beginning at 6:30 p.m. The post will not hold a meeting on July 2 so that members can enjoy the 250th anniversaty of the nation’s founding and participate in local celebrations being held on July 4. During their June 4 meeting the post members agreed to a work day at the hall on Thursday, June 11 beginning at 9 a.m. Post and Auxiliary members are urged to attend and help with maintenance and repair issues. All veterans in the Round Top-Carmine, Winedale, Warrenton, Ledbetter, Waldeck, and Ruttersville area are encouraged to join Post No. 338 and share in fellowship with others who have served our nation.
Flower & Plant Exhibit Returns to Fair
The Flower and Plant Exhibit returns to the Fayette County Fair Sept. 3-6 with Ribbons and Garden Prizes for Grand Champion and Reserved Grand Champion. There will be two divisions: Youth (14 years and under) and Adult (15 years +). Judging will be on looks and the container’s presentation in keeping with the 2026 Fair theme of Celebrate America 250. Start grooming those special plants now, so they will be for competition come September. The La Grange Garden Club will be sponsoring the Plant and Flower Show this year.
