Shelter Has 73 Animals In Care

The Gardenia E. Janssen Animal Shelter is open 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday for all normal operations. The shelter is closed to the public on Monday with staff onsite for animal care from 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. Reclaims are allowed on Monday after 10 a.m. by appointment. If you believe your lost pet may be in care, call (979) 966-0021.

Quilts of Valor Presented to Baker, Dodson

Recently Quilts of Valor were delivered and wrapped around Robert (Bob) Baker and John Dodson who are Vietnam Veterans. Bob Baker (U.S. Army) was instrumental in forming VVA Chapters in Schulenburg, Hallettsville and La Grange and 30-plus Chapters through out the United States. John Dodson (U.S. Army) was a not only a Founding Member and original officer of VVA 870, but a retired teacher in Schulenburg.
Presenting the quilt to Bob Baker were VVA 870 Members Eugene Krupala, Don Christen, Ron Dorsey, Daniel Kutac, Frank White and Andy Janda.

Local Seniors Complete Fall Prevention Program Through AgriLife Extension

Texas A&M AgriLife Extension has successfully wrapped up an eight-session A Matter of Balance series designed to help older adults reduce their fear of falling, increase physical confidence, and stay active in daily life. The evidence- based series combined group discussion, practical strategies, and guided exercise sessions to support participants in improving balance and mobility.

The City of La Grange will have Spring Clean-Up Days in April. Residents are allowed one free load of brush (no larger than 8 ft. long, 4 ft. wide, and 4 ft. tall equal to one pickup truck load). Any additional loads will be charged on your next bill.

On April 9, the Pioneer Unit of the Herb Society of America invites everyone to join them at the Brenham Presbyterian Church to hear Mark Vorderbruggen of Merriwether Foraging Texas. Mark’s talk, “Your Yard Pharmacy: Medicinal Landscaping Plants,” is free and open to the public. The talk begins at 10 a.m., but everyone is invited to come early for a cup of coffee or tea.
