AMEN appreciates all in the community that provided food assistance for the month of March. This would include all that provided monetary donations, food drives and the AMEN Gardens. The gardeners have been providing beets, kale, carrots and many other leafy vegetables.

Fayette County beef cattle ranks in the top three cow/calf production in the state of Texas. Annually, beef cattle producers face a wide variety of challenges of environmental to economical factors. Therefore, the Fayette Beef Committee along with the Fayette County A&M AgriLife Extension Service work together to present timely and valuable best management practices to improve efficiency in beef cattle production.

Community Good Friday Service will be held on Friday, April 18, at 12:05 p.m., hosted at First United Methodist Church located at 301 W. St. Charles Street in Weimar with Rev. Grethe Delaney of Equippers Outreach Church as preacher. Such observances serve as a poignant reminder of the central message of Christianity love, sacrifice, and forgiveness. The handbell choir from Faith Lutheran High School of Central Texas competed in the Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools (TAPPS) music competition on Friday, March 29. These ten students of music director, Dan Schaefer, performed one piece for competition and a second piece for exhibition.

A La Grange resident contacted the Record last week concerning neighbors who leave trash out when it’s not time for pickup, especially bulky items. This resident, who recently hosted some out-of-town visitors, said, “I was embarrassed by the shape of my own neighborhood.” We reached out to La Grange City Manager Jack Thompson, who provided the following information to remind residents about the City’s trash pickup policies.

The whereabouts of a local woman who went missing last week remain unknown as of Monday morning, April 6. Viviana “Vivi” Ortiz-Zuniga, 39 of Fayetteville, disappeared on Wednesday, April 2.

La Grange High School Paraprofessional and Library Aide Pam Keilers got a special surprise last Friday. Representatives from the Region 13 Education Service Center presented her with their Star of the Month Award.

La Grange’s Charlie Brewer said she’s not necessarily a big railroad fan. “But I am a big fan of saving history,” Brewer said.
