Faith Lutheran Handbell Choir Wins Top Rank at TAPPS

Members of the group are Jay Woelfel, Donovan Phillips, Elijah Kueck, Kaylee Wolff, Hudson Stueber, Elena Matus, Miriam Meyer, Layna Woelfel, Robert Wolff, Elizabeth Richardson and Director Dan Schaefer.

The handbell choir from Faith Lutheran High School of Central Texas competed in the Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools (TAPPS) music competition on Friday, March 29.

These ten students of music director, Dan Schaefer, performed one piece for competition and a second piece for exhibition. They performed at the ACC Hotel in Waco and were judged by Bob Avant, Director of the Baylor Bronze Handbell Ensemble, Baylor University. The group earned the rating of “I” - Superior for their performance of “March of the Chimes” by Lynne Hollander. Also performed was “The Church’s One Foundation” arranged by Sandra Tucker. The FLHS choir was critiqued on their technique, musicianship, stage presence, poise and overall visual uni- formity.

The group will also be featured in the SpringThing, a concert hosted at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Warda on Wednesday, May 7, at 7 p.m.
