Rev. Gordon Butler Selected As New Minister at First Presbyterian in La Grange

First Presbyterian Church has just selected Rev. Gordon Butler as our new minister. Rev. Butler was the Presbyterian minister in Giddings when he first became a minister probably 30 years ago and is excited to be back in this part of Texas Sounds of joy were heard this morning in the sanctuary of the First Presbyterian Church of La Grange. After an extensive search by our Pastor Nominating Committee consisting of Clive Halder, Chair, Norma Smith, Cheryl Holt, Pam Hurst, Debby Schovajsa, Nancy Muil, Jeremy Janda and Bobbie Nash, the PNC was thrilled to present to the congregation Rev. Gordon Butler as our selection for our new minister.

Heinsohn’s Amazing Finds

La Grange resident Bob Heinsohn has been rockhunting around the local area for decades and he’s made some amazing finds. In the aftermath of a couple of articles we’ve had in the newspaper recently about the prehistoric mammoths that used to prowl this area, Heinsohn gave us a call and invited us to check out some of his finds. Pictured above is him holding up a massive mammoth vertebrae he found near La Grange.

Brugger Wins First Place in Fayette Water and Soil Conservation Contest

Fayette Soil and Water Conservation District No. 341 recently held a coloring contest in conjunction with Stewardship Week. The contest was open to all 4H members and the following were winners in the Senior Division: Brylee Brugger-1st place with Pure Country 4H, Brynlee Berger-2nd place with Schulenburg 4H and Cara Homer-3rd place with La Grange 4H. Brylee is the daughter of Chris and Laura Brugger from Ellinger.

The La Grange High School Class of 1970 held their 55th class reunion at the Holy Cross Lutheran Church Picnic Hall on Saturday, June 21, 2025. An afternoon was enjoyed by a well attended crowd with a social hour, meeting and a catered meal.

Six Local Apprentice Electricians Complete Four-Year Blinn Program

Six Schulenburg-area apprentice electricians have completed a four-year Blinn College program to prepare them to take the journeyman electrician exam. Graduates include Juan Toro, Schulenburg; Adam Guajardo, La Grange; Daniel Uribe, Schulenburg; Deanna Langhamer, Schulenburg; Luis Uribe-Flores, Schulenburg; and Anthony Perez, Schulenburg.
