The La Grange Senior Citizen Activity Center Inc. will host game day on Thursday, Sept. 11, from 9 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. at the City of La Grange Randolph Recreation Center. St. John Fish Fry
St. John Lutheran Church in Rutersville, located at 5743 Hwy. 159, will be having a fish fry on Saturday evening, Sept. 13. Serving will begin at 5 p.m. Dine-in preferred and free will donation. All are invited for an evening of fun and fellowship.
There’s more The American Legion Post and the American Legion Auxiliary Unit No. 102 will meet for their regular monthly meeting on Wednesday, Sept. 10 at 6 p.m. at the VFW Home located at Veterans Memorial Drive at the Fayette County Fairgrounds in La Grange. The Post is requesting input and participation from all area Veterans as they will be discussing planning for our Nation’s 250th Birthday. The Auxiliary is also encouraging members to attend and show support for Veterans and their families. Irene Szwarc, 19th District President, plans to be in attendance to update membership about the recent State Department Convention held in Austin. New members are always welcome. A light meal will be served, with the regular business meetings to follow.
Bingo For Seniors in Ledbetter
Bingo for seniors, 60 and older plus guests, will be held at the Ledbetter Community Center on Sunday, Sept. 14 from 2-4 p.m. Doors open at 1:30 p.m. $5/card covers all games with prizes awarded for each game. Chips/snacks and drinks available for freewill donation.
Flatonia-Cistern Farm Bureau Meeting
Flatonia-Cistern Farm Bureau dinner and 2025 quarterly meeting will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 16, at the American Legion Hall in Flatonia. Social hour will start at 6 p.m. and dinner will be served at 6:30 p.m. The guest speaker will be Cyndi Johnson, owner of The Market in Flatonia. A business meeting will follow the potluck meal. Members are asked to bring a meat tray, a salad, or a dessert dish.
VFW Post 5254 and Auxiliary to Meet On Tuesday, Sept. 16, members of Fayette Memorial VFW Post 5254 and Auxiliary will meet in the VFW Post Home at the Fayette County Fairgrounds in La Grange. The Auxiliary meets at 5 p.m. At 6 p.m., the Post and Auxiliary will gather for the solemn POW/MIA Remembrance Ceremony. There will be discussion about celebrating the 250th Anniversary of the United States of America. A meal will be provided and then the Post will have its’ meeting. Prospective new members are invited to attend.
Bells Across America
Smith-McMillan Chapter, NSDAR, is hosting a Bells Across America on Wednesday, Sept. 17, on the lawn of the Fayette County Courthouse in La Grange. Gather at 2:45 p.m. and hear a few interesting facts about the Constitution. The Honorable Judge Mueller will read the Constitution Week Proclamation. At 3 p.m. we will ring bells for a minute. You are welcome to bring your own bell or use one of ours. This event takes place all across our great country to celebrate the signing of the Constitution which took place back in 1787. This year marks the 70th year the DAR will celebrate Constitution Week.
LHS Class of 1959 Reunion
Members of the La Grange High School class of 1959 will gather in La Grange at Sealand Restaurant, 2359 W. Travis, on Saturday, Sept. 20 for their 66th year class reunion. Sealand opens at ll a.m. and classmates are invited to join the group for lunch and fun reconnecting. Vietnam Veterans Meeting
Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 870 will meet on the third Wednesday of the month at 7 p.m. at the Ammannsville KJT Hall located in Ammannsville. Food and refreshments will be available after the meeting. Members and prospective members are encouraged to attend.
La Grange & Schulenburg Chess Clubs The La Grange Chess Club meets on Mondays from 5:156:15 p.m. at the Randolph Recreation Center, Building C. The Schulenburg Chess Club meets at the Schulenburg Public Library each Wednesday from 4:45-5:45 p.m. Participation is free for ages five to adult. Free chess lessons are available.
