The Working Side
I like the working side, I like the part of town That rises 5 a. m.
Steel toe boots, heavy gloves, Welding hoods, work stain’d clothes, Early morning coffee, The local quick stop store.
I like the part of town, Where the first at the door, Opens and holds for all, “Go ahead after you!” “Thanks!”
No matter race or creed, But always ladies first.
I like thus part of town--Cowboy boots and hard hats, Four wheeler horse trailers--They left the horse at home, Calous’d hands, busted knuckles, They work from sun to dark.
Hard day’s work, good day’s pay, And then the weekend comes--Home and hearth, love and play, Their family all around; I like the working side, I like the part of town That rises 5 a. m.
