Some Familiar Faces, Names Return to LGISD This School Year

With the start of school looming, Monday’s La Grange school board meeting included a slew of personnel moves, including the return of some familiar faces and names. Retirees Sherry Schmidt and Janna McHazlett are returning in a part-time capacity and Erin Oppermann, daughter of former music teacher Catherine Oppermann, was approved as the new elementary music teacher.

Feed the Need, a non-profit organization whose mission is to feed people physically and spiritually, will provide free burgers every Monday at 6:30 p.m. in La Grange at the south east corner of the courthouse square. Everyone is welcome.

La Grange Bluebonnet Lions Start Up A New Year

The La Grange Bluebonnet Lions Club kicked off their 2025-2026 year on July 17. Mark Ulrich, Lions’ Past District Governor was present to install new officers, welcome new member Tammy Oehlke, and present awards.
Bluebonnet Lions in attendance left to right, Rochelle Tyler, Tammy Oehlke, Lynnette Boyd, Suzette Zarr, Dale Throckmorton, Sherry Dittrich, Rhonda Koether, Cheri Collision (President), Gracie Albright (Secretary), Carolyn Buchanek, Jeannie Bertsch (Vice President), Krystle Bloodsworth, Loretta Ulrich (Treasurer) and Deborah Hinkley. Hinkley received a pin for 20 years of service and Dale Throckmorton received the Martin Jones Fellowship Award.
