Blood Drive Aug. 24 at Martin Luther Lutheran Church

A blood drive will be held at Martin Luther Lutheran Church on Sunday, Aug. 24 from 9:30 a.m.-2 p.m. Donors can go online at commitforlife. org to make an appointment with the Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center Donor Portal.

It is sponsored by both Bethlehem Lutheran Church of Round Top and MLLC in Carmine. All donations are greatly appreciated.

Fayette County May Get a New Congressman Under Proposed Redistricting Plan

The Texas Legislature is set to vote over possibly changing state’s congressional districts ahead of the mid-term elections, which take place next year. The proposed changes come at the request of President Donald Trump, who wants to bolster Republican chances during the Congressional mid-terms. Pictured above is a portion of the map currently under consideration in the Legislature. If approved, Fayette County would land in U.S. House District 27, held by Republican Congressman Michael Cloud of Victoria. Currently Fayette County is part of U.S.

Round Top Family Library Cuts Ties With Moreau After Incident

The Round Top Family Library Board of Directors wishes to inform the community of a recent and unfortunate incident involving our now-former Executive Director, Craig Moreau. Earlier this week, an accidental discharge of a firearm occurred off-site and outside of library hours, involving our Executive Director. While we are grateful that both individuals injured in the incident are recovering, we recognize the seriousness of this event and its impact on our library family and the broader community.

Aug. 9 is the date set for a “kids only” quilt block class being offered by Karen Kilian. Anyone wishing to have a child take a class on making a barn board quilt block should contact Karen at (979) 9667091 and register for the class. All supplies will be provided.

Flatonia Baptist Church Members Travel to Bunde for Mission Work

M Muldoon was well represented on the Flatonia Baptist Church mission trip to Bunde, Germany with four community members; Steven and Penny McFarlin, Lora Cherry and myself traveled to the village of Bunde to help put on a baseball camp and teach about the Bible for the area kids. It was a fun filled week of baseball with a sprinkling of mixing, mingling and touring around.

Preserving Family Heritage Estate and Legal Planning Seminar August 20

Transitional planning is a daunting task to navigate as families begin to plan for the next generation with a focus on preservation of family land and assets, establishing trusts, writing wills, and navigating probate. Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service in Fayette County is proud to offer an opportunity for those with an interest in preparing for the future to join us on Wednesday, Aug. 20 for Preserving Family Heritage Estate and Legal Planning Seminar at the Fayette County Extension Office, 255 Svoboda Lane, La Grange. Registration begins at 8 a.m. and Program from 8:30 a.m. - 12 p.m. with lunch to follow at 12 p.m.

The Mighty Leopard Band is “Baking A Difference.” Come support the La Grange High School Band and Booster Club’s bake sale Saturday, Aug. 2 at the Farmer’s Market on the square in La Grange from 8 a.m. - 12 p.m. Proceeds from this free will donation sale will go towards the purchase of new Color Guard uniforms.
