    Kids Bass Fishing Tournament Saturday at Lake Fayette

The Kids Unlimited Foundation Annual Bass Fishing Tournament will be held at Lake Fayette Oak Thicket Park this Saturday beginning at sunrise. Local fisherman and guides have volunteered to take kids out on the lake till noon. Back at shore, the kids and their families will enjoy games, BBQ, a silent auction and an awards ceremony at the pavilion.

The Kids Unlimited Foundation is a non-profit organization formed to benefit children stricken with cancer.

City Council 

The next City Council meeting is this Monday at 7 p.m. in the City offices. City Council meetings are held every third Monday of the month.

Data from the portable speed detection radar is being sent to the Sheriff’s Department to keep deputies informed about traffic conditions within city limits. Mayor Stroup confirmed the radar’s effectiveness, stating, “The speed detection radar is working. It’s acting as a deterrent.”

The City has requested that TxDOT consider reducing speed limits within town; this decision is currently pending. The city is actively working to resolve the issue of drivers’ GPS signals directing them down Bell Street.

An alternate route to significantly minimize disruption on FM 955 and part of Hwy 159 would be to direct trucks passing through Fayetteville to take FM 2503 to Highway 159, those roadways have substantially fewer residences on and near those roadways.

Fayettevill VFD 

Fayetteville Volunteer Fire Department Fire and EMS Call Report for September: Sept. 24, Co2 moniter alarm call at Fayetteville Farms Rd. at FM 1291.

Sept. 29, Grass fire on Leslie Rd. at Burnside Rd. Residents are reminded by Chief Noviske that Fayette County is still under a burn ban due to dry conditions.

Historic Preservation 

The Historic Preservation Committee Board held its meeting last Thursday. Board members included Candice Havel, Carolyn Heinsohn of the Fayette County Historical Committee and Judy Kurtz. Chair Lisa Simpson presided over the meeting.

Signage for stores in the square that were approved include: SCM Designs one O three and Redeemed and Restored. The committee approved two installations: dog waste stations on the square and a community bulletin board for the front of the Fayetteville Community Center and Performance Theater.

Lickskillet Days

Mobile Food Pantry 

The Central Texas Mobile Food Pantry will be at the Waldeck Lutheran Church from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. this Saturday. Drive-thru only. Backseats, trunks and truck beds need to be cleared out to make room for the bags and boxes of food. Volunteers are always appreciated.

St. Paul Lutheran 

St. Paul Lutheran holds services on Sundays at 10:30 a.m. Services are recorded every week, rotating among four Shared Lutheran Ministry churches and posted on the Facebook page for the Shared Lutheran Ministry of Fayette County. Services are also featured on KTIM 89.1 Sundays at noon.

St. John the Baptist Catholic 

St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Fayetteville holds Mass Saturdays at 6 p.m., and Sunday’s at 10 a.m.

St. Mary Catholic Church 

St. Mary Catholic Church in Ellinger holds Mass on Saturdays at 4 p.m. and Sunday’s at 8 a.m.

Fayetteville Brethren 

Worship services at Fayetteville Brethren are held on the second, third and fourth Saturday of every month at 10 a.m. An adult Bible Study is held before the worship service from 9 to 9:45 a.m.
