Keep Cool with “Ice, Ice Baby!” History Program Saturday

Kreische Brewery and Monument Hill State Historic Sites will host a new family program - Ice Ice Baby! - inspired by the challenges of keeping cool in the nineteenth century. Come discover how early Texans beat the heat before freezers and air conditioning and learn how ice revolutionized life for the La Grange community. This program will be held on Saturday, Aug. 2, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Four Community Members Sworn in as CASA Volunteers

On the morning of Tuesday, July 29th at the Bastrop County Courthouse, The Honorable Judge Eskew officially swore in four new CASA volunteers. Also known as Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA), these dedicated volunteers will work with CASA of Bastrop, Fayette & Lee Counties to advocate for children and families involved in the foster care system in the three counties we serve.
Scott Davis from La Grange, Pamela Quarles from Elgin,, Becky Herrin from Bastrop, and Mary Jo Kilpatrick from Cedar Creek were recently shown in as new CASA Advocates by Judge Eskew.

As summer heats up, Senior Connections invites all active seniors to come into the cool air, join us for a week filled with fun, friendship, and delicious home-cooked meals at our gathering places in Schulenburg at 1111 Bowman Ave., in Weimar at The First United Methodist Church, 301 West Saint Charles, and in Flatonia at 403 E.

Senior Connections Announces Purchase of Old Galipp’s Grocery to Support Growth of Programs for Older Adults

Senior Connections is thrilled to announce we have finalized the purchase of 421/425 North Main Street in Schulenburg. Once the Galipp’s Supermarket Building, this historic space will become the future home of our growing programs serving older adults across Fayette, Colorado, and Lavaca Counties. With significantly more room, the new facility will allow us to welcome more members, expand our services, and serve as the central hub for meal preparation for all our satellite locations, strengthening our reach and deepening our impact across our area.
