NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING ON PROPOSED 2026 BUDGET Notice is hereby given that the Fayette County Commissioners Court will hold a public hearing on the proposed 2026 Fayette County Budget and at 9:00 a.m., onAugust 28, 2025, in the Commissioner’s Courtroom (3rd Floor) in the Fayette County Courthouse, La Grange, Texas. Citizens attending the hearing are invited to provide written and oral comments and ask questions regarding the budget.

Fayette County, Texas is inviting qualified architectural firms to submit proposals to update the Courthouse master plan which was originally developed in 2005. The master plan update will include a condition assessment, recommendations of work needed on the building, any changes to the building or its use, or any programmatic changes – and a cost estimate for all recommendations for work that needs to be done on the building.

It’ll soon be time to start planting fall vegetables, so I’m getting into bed preparation mode. I’ve written a lot about bed preparation, but I’d like to focus on one particular aspect of it.

The Texas Education Agency (TEA) released its annual school accountability ratings for the 2024-25 school year on Friday, Aug. 15. All of the school districts in Fayette County showed improvement over the previous year, with some campuses performing better than others.

The next Volunteer Day is set for Saturday, Sept. 6 from 9 a.m. - 12 p.m. This group meets bi-monthly to help keep the grounds at Festival Hill beautiful. Volunteers will work in groups to help restore and maintain the gardens and walking trails. Gloves, rakes, and other tools are available. Lunch is provided.
