Newton Picked For Vacant LG Council Seat

The La Grange City Council appointed Kim Newton to the vacant City Council seat for Ward 3 at their May 8 meeting.

Newton replaces Dusty Littrell, who resigned from the Council last month. Newton previously worked for the City as the La Grange Community and Economic Development Manager. She currently works for La Grange I.S.D. as a middle school teacher. Newton was the only person to apply for the vacant City Council seat.

“As a current 7th Grade Math and 8th Grade Technoogy Teacher at La Grange ISD, I have gained experience working for one of the largest employers in La Grange,” Newton said in her application. “This has widened my view of what is important to our families and individual citizens. My experience in community and economic development, as well as my background in marketing, has given me the skills and knowledge necessary to be an effective member of the council.”
