Adams Shines in 1st Episode Of New CBS Reality Series

The first of 12 contestants was eliminated Sunday on the new CBS country music reality series “The Road” and it wasn’t Winchester’s Briana Adams, who lives to perform another day. Oklahoman Blaine Bailey was eliminated, leaving 11 musicians, including Adams, still in contention on the show.

LHS Band Earns Top Marks at Regional Marching Competition

The La Grange High School marching band earned Straight 1s (the top marks available) from the judges at Saturday’s Region 18/26 marching competition in Giddings. The Leps now advance to the area competition. The Leopard marching band show this year is “Flower Power!” which celebrates the vibrant pop sounds of the late 1960s and early 1970s. The band is under the direction of Christopher Cooper. Chloe Coufal and Kameron Behrens are the Drum Majors. Last year the La Grange band advanced to state for the first time in school history.

Bastrop/Fayette County Ag Conference will be held Friday, Nov. 14 at the Fayette County Fairgrounds, 400 Fairgrounds Rd., La Grange, Texas. A total of 5 pesticide applicator CEU credits are available (3 General, 1 Laws & Regulations & 1 IPM).

Animal Shelter In Need of Volunteers

The Gardenia E. Janssen Animal Shelter is open from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday for all normal operations. The shelter is closed to the public with staff onsite for animal care from 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. on Monday. Trophies were presented by Round Top-Warrenton VFD President/Chief Calvin Krause & Captain Keith Burcalow.

The Ellinger Chamber of Commerce will host Bingo on Saturday, Oct. 25 with doors opening at 4 p.m., kitchen at 5 p.m.
The Pure Country 4H Club hosted guest speaker Mr. Tuffy Hale with the Texas Animal Health Commission on Sunday, Oct. 19. The topic for the evening was the new world screwworm.
