“Emerging Artists: Beyond” Opens at ARTS Ross Gallery

Arts for Rural Texas (ARTS) presents Emerging Artists: Beyond, a group exhibition showcasing the work of eight talented artists on the rise. The exhibition opens with a reception on Saturday, Oct. 25, from 4-6 p.m. at the ARTS Ross Gallery in Fayetteville.

Soil So Dry it Repels Water

Have you ever seen soil so dry that it repels water? This often happens with bagged potting soil. If you fill up a pot with really dry potting soil and try to water it, the water seems to bead off the soil and run out of the holes in the pot – like rain on a freshly-waxed car. The soil has become “hydrophobic” – it literally repels water.

Vandever Running for County Judge

Josh Vandever, currently serving as the Director of Fayette County EMS, has announced his intention to seek the office of Fayette County Judge in the upcoming election. Vandever, who has served Fayette County for more than a decade, said the decision came after much prayer, reflection, and encouragement from his wife, family, friends, and community leaders.

Most Area Entities See Small Sales Tax Gains

Local government treasuries continue to see increases in their sales tax revenue this year, although the rate of growth seems to be slowing. October payments from the State Comptroller’s Office have Fayette County and six of its seven towns in the black for this point in 2025.
