Wendish Society to Host Scholarship Fundraiser Meal Jan. 25

The Wendish Society will have their Annual Scholarship Fundraiser Drive-Thru meal on Sunday, Jan. 25. The menu is grilled pork steaks, noodles, corn, green beans, pickles, and a bowl of Wendish Bird Wedding Soup. The cost is $15 per plate, pre-sale only by January 21. Reserve tickets at texaswendish. org or by calling the museum at (979) 366-2441. Drive thru/to-go only from 10 a.m.-12:30 p.m. at the Serbin Picnic Grounds.

Family Fun Bingo Bash Camp Lone Star in La-Grange will host a Family Fun Night Bingo Bash on Tuesday, Jan. 13 from 5:30-7 p.m. All ages are welcome and prizes are up for grabs. Register at www.camplonestar.org.

Tejas Camp & Retreat 

Tejas Camp and Retreat Center had a busy 2025. They hosted 7,600 campers, 8,700 retreat guests, 177 churches and over 200 families.

South Lee Co. VFD 

The Annual Membership Meeting and election of officers, of the South Lee County Volunteer Fire Department, will be held on Sunday, Jan. 18 at the fire station in Northrup. Doors open at 5 p.m. and the meeting will start at 6 p.m. All area residents are encouraged to attend. Refreshments and a meal will be provided.

St. Paul Chili Supper 

St. Paul Lutheran in Serbin will be the site of a fun Chili Supper and Auction on Sunday, March 1. The fun begins at 4 p.m. and will include a chili cook-off. More details to come.

Sewing Circle 

The Sewing Circle meets each Thursday from 9 a.m.noon in the old parish hall at Holy Cross in Warda. This is around the back side of the church. No experience is necessary and you do not have to be a church member to join this fun group. Contact the church office at (979) 2423333 if you have any questions. Game Day at Holy Cross

The next Game Day at Holy Cross in Warda will be held Thursday, Jan. 15 from noon-2 p.m. A light lunch is served. There is no cost to attend and everyone is welcome. Games of bingo and dominoes are offered.

Holy Cross Services 

Services at Holy Cross Lutheran are Sunday at 9 a.m. Bible Class and Sunday school follows the morning service.

Youth Group meets the second Sunday of the month at 11:15 a.m. All ages 5th grade and up are invited to join.

FLHS has a Tuition Scholarship Program with funds available and every family that applies, through TADS, will receive some assistance.

The Falcons Basketball team will play at Valor S. Austin on Jan. 9 at 6 p.m. and will play Valor S. Austin at home on Jan. 16 at 6 p.m.
