Fayette County Emergency Management Chief Craig Moreau reported that his office has received most of the results from last week’s nursing home testing.

The staff at Second Chance Emporium have issued the following statement, saying they “would like to thank the public for the donations received over the last two and a half weeks since reopening. We know many of you were quarantined at home over the last few months and took that time to do some major closet cleaning. That being said, Second Chance is now buried with donations that must be sanitized and stored before processing following CDC guidelines. In order to make room to accept additional donations, we must ask that you hold your donations until Monday, July 6. As a reminder, we request that donations dropped off be in a condition that they can be resold; clean, good working order, not damaged or broken and contain all their related parts.”

Interim EMS Director Malissa Mieth submitted a letter of resignation to Fayette County effective June 29.

Things are beginning to return to normal (or at least as normal as possible) at La Grange ISD. Summer school began on Monday with 48 students in attendance in person and 11 students participating through virtual learning and packets. The schedule will have two weeks of instruction followed by one week off and then two more weeks of instruction. The students are being kept socially distanced in the classroom with lunch being brought to them in to go containers by the cafeteria staff.

Schulenburg Police arrested a local man for intoxication assault with a vehicle last Wednesday.

Agricultural producers who have not yet enrolled in the Agriculture Risk Coverage (ARC) or Price Loss Coverage (PLC) programs for 2020 must do so by June 30. Although program elections for the 2020 crop year remain the same as elections made for 2019, all producers need to contact their local USDA Farm Service Agency (FSA) Office to sign a 2020 enrollment contract.

Fayette County Sheriff Keith Korenek reports that on Wednesday, June 10 a call was received about a disturbance at the Amigos gas station in Flatonia. Flatonia Police Officers Cody George and Mark Pritchard arrived at the gas station and discovered the subject had left on FM 609 traveling northbound in a brown Honda Civic.
