Intoxicated Assault Arrest in Schulenburg

Schulenburg Police arrested a local man for intoxication assault with a vehicle last Wednesday.

According to a report from Schulenburg Police Chief Troy Brenek, his department received a call about a traffic accident at the corner of South Street and Wolters Avenue on June 10 around 2:20 p.m.

Sgt. Kyle Hengst responded and found a green 1998 Dodge Ram four door pickup that had struck a white Chevy Traverse. Both vehicle sustained major front end damage. The female driver and female passenger of the Traverse both suffered what appeared to be serious neck and back injuries, Brenek said. A witness at the scene told police a hispanic male was driving the Dodge pickup and that he ran away after the wreck.

Hengst went to look for the suspect after EMS arrived. Brenek said Hengst found the suspect in front of a house across the street.

“He showed all the signs of being intoxicated,” Brenek said. “We obtained a blood search warrant and transported him to the hospital for a blood test.”

Brenek identified the suspect as 51-year-old Fedy Olicos Reyes of Schulenburg. He was arrested for intoxication assault with a vehicle. Fayette County EMS transported the two injured women from the Traverse to St. Mark’s Hospital in La Grange.
