As of Monday morning, June 29, there were 78 cases of coronavirus in Fayette County. Of those, 27 people have recovered, leaving 44 active cases. There have been two deaths officially attributed to the virus since the pandemic began. The Record learned of another death over the weekend that may have been from the virus, with confirmation expected later this week.

Kaycee Roesler is a 2010 LGHS graduate. She is currently working at Jefferson Place and enrolled in a LVN to RN nursing school with Victoria College. Kaycee has recently been diagnosed with multiple myeloma, a blood cancer and told she may no longer work until her treatments have been completed.

Mammatus clouds are soft pillowy clouds that are a rare but beautiful sight if you are lucky enough to see them. Mammatus clouds are a rare type of cloud that only appears just before or following a particularly severe thunderstorm. These clouds look like lumps or lobes that hang below the clouds, which ties into the meaning of the clouds themselves. The definition of the word mammatus is mammary which means breast or udder. The great thing about these clouds is that you have the highest chance of seeing these clouds after a thunderstorm. In the evening they look amazing as the sun is setting and as the golden hour sunlight passes through them they are illuminated in the most beautiful mix of the dark underbelly of the storm and the setting sun.

La Grange High School held its Academic Recognition Banquet Monday at the Hostyn Parish Hall Pavilion with social distancing precautions in place.

The Ellinger VFD have purchased a “jaws of life,” used to extract occupants of vehicles pinned inside due to crashes. Members will receive training on the equipment in mid-July.
