Another week has passed and the doors of the Navidad Valley Community Connections Center have not reopened. While the new set up is completed, NVCC felt it prudent to wait on the results of the Schulenburg COVID-19 testing last week.

In an inclusion classroom, general education teachers and special education teachers work together to meet the needs of students. This type of classroom gives special education students the support they need and allows them to stay in the least restrictive environment.

As the new AMEN food pantry opens this week, pantry officials said in a statement that they “want to thank all in the community that provided the funds and volunteer hours to make the pantry located at 851 S. Reynolds a possibility. The Board had a dream over seven years ago to provide a location that would provide food assistance and was a location that provided services in a welcoming environment. Hurricane Harvey delayed our dream, however the delay provided time to collect funds for all the interior items required. The new facility will provide ample service space for many years. This facility has 3300 square feet of food space for client shopping along with four commercial refrigerators and four commercial freezers. The waiting room to be served seats 50 with a professional counter along with three private interview rooms.” Unfortunately, due to the COVID-19 pandemic continuing, the pantry will continue as a drive thru format, however when conditions allow, customers will be able to use the facility as planned. When the situation improves there will be a grand opening for the public to tour, however at this time the date is not known.

To the residents of Fayette County: Friday morning Governor Greg Abbot issued his 28th Executive Order which directed some significant changes to his previous orders. The changes mostly relate to bars, restaurants, rafting and tubing businesses and outdoor gatherings of 100 people or more. The Governor’s primary reason for issuing this order was the most recent increase in the spread of COVID-19 throughout the state. The rise in cases appears to be largely driven by certain types of activities which are specifically alluded to in his order. I will not go into the details of the Governor’s order as it is extremely clear and available for all on numerous media sites throughout the state. I specifically recommend you go to gov. texas.gov to get the details of the order and to better understand its applicability to Fayette County.
