Ellinger VFD Purchases Life-Saving Equipment
The Ellinger VFD have purchased a “jaws of life,” used to extract occupants of vehicles pinned inside due to crashes. Members will receive training on the equipment in mid-July.
The Ellinger Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched to a grass fire on Sunday, June 21. The location was on State Hwy 71 near Baca Road. The fire started on the west side of the highway and spread into the median. It was quickly extinguished, but heavy smoke from the blaze caused a couple of minor accidents.

The Ellinger Hermann Sons Life will not have its June meeting due to COVID-19.
SLM News
The Shared Lutheran Ministry of Fayette County churches are reopening. Rutersville and Fayetteville have been conducting regular worship since June 7, following some social distancing guidelines. St. John Lutheran in Warrenton will resume regular worship services on Sunday, June 28, at 8:30 a.m. with graduate recognition. St. John Lutheran in Ellinger has not scheduled reopening yet.
Worship services will still be aired at noon on KTIM-89.1 and recorded for viewing on Facebook or www.sharedlutheranministry.org.
Sewer and Water
The Ellinger Sewer and Water Supply Corporation will hold its regular monthly meeting on Monday, July 13, at 7 p.m. at the Ellinger Fire Station.
Chamber of Commerce
The Ellinger Chamber of Commerce has scheduled several events. Bingo has been planned for July18, Aug. 8, Aug. 29 and Sept. 19. The next regular monthly will be on July 14, and the St. Mary’s Fall Festival is scheduled for Aug. 23. You may keep up with scheduled events by visiting the website, ellingertexas.com.
The Ellinger Chamber of Commerce has some T-shirts, caps and koozies for sale. Your purchase or donations will help them to get some revenue that they lost due to cancellations of events because of the pandemic. You can see examples of items for sale on the chamber website.
Tax Reminder
Just a reminder that July 15 is the deadline to submit your 2019 income tax forms or file for an extension.
