Rumors of Lukas Bakery Closure Untrue

Larry Faldyn, the owner of Lukas Bakery in La Grange doesn’t know why the rumor has started that his historic bakery on the courthouse square in La Grange is closing, but he said the shop has been getting calls for the past several days asking about its status.

Fayette County Still Under Mask Mandate

Fayette County remains under a mask mandate. County Judge Joe Weber told the Record on Wednesday that he has received requests from citizens to ask Governor Greg Abbott for an exemption to the statewide mask mandate.

Residents of Fayette and Lee Voice Opinions About St. Mark’s Via Survey

The Dallas Marketing Group, Inc. released results of a survey it conducted of residents of Fayette and Lee County to better understand what healthcare services the community expects. The survey was mailed late in 2019 to 17,654 households in both counties and 1,398 residents responded by return mail or online. A similar survey conducted in 2012 serves as a reference and is used as the baseline of comparisons below.

Women Celebrate Right to Vote

On Aug. 26, 1920, the 19th Amendment of the Constitution guaranteeing women the right to vote was officially adopted. Smith-McMillan Chapter of the National Society, Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR) salute the courageous women that struggled for over 70 years to give this privilege today. Greatest Show on Turf?

Fayette County is just days away from getting its first artificial turf football field. Flatonia’s Bulldog Stadium was abuzz with activity even on a 100-degree afternoon Monday as Flatonia head football coach Chris Freytag, pictured above right, went to check things out. 7th COVID Death Confirmed Here

Fayette County Emergency Management Chief Craig Moreau reported that a man in his 80s from Pct. 4, the Schulenburg area, recently died from COVID-19. That’s the seventh death that Fayette County officials attributed to the coronavirus.
