Round Top-Carmine High School volleyball teams had their first game on Aug. 14.

The two public parks on Lake Fayette are now under new management. Recreation Resource Management (RRM) took over operations at Park Prairie and Oak Thicket parks this summer. The Lower Colorado River Authority owns the two parks and leased operations to RRM. The company manages 150 parks in nine states around the Country.

The number of confirmed/ probable coronavirus cases in Fayette County has jumped from 31 last Monday to 45 this week. Certainly part of that jump can be attributed to mass free testing events offered at the Fayette County Fairgrounds last week.

Census workers are currently out in our community to complete the census for all citizens that were not completed. A valid government ID badge can easily identify census workers with their photograph and expiration date on it. The City of La Grange has enacted Phase Two of the Drought Contingency Plan effective Aug. 17. The triggering criteria which has initiated this action is the current dry weather conditions. Normally, water production capacity is 1,600,000 gallons per day. The triggering criteria for mandatory water conservation is 90% of the production capacity or 1,125,000 gallons per day.
