Traffic Stop on Hwy. 290 Ends in Drug Arrests

Fayette County Sheriff Keith Korenek reports that on Sunday evening, Feb. 1 around 6:42 p.m. Deputy Josh Jones conducted a traffic stop on U.S. Hwy. 290 westbound near Carmine for a traffic violation.

When contact was made with the occupants of the vehicle a strong odor of marijuana was emitting from the vehicle. Deputy Jason Fowler also responded and assisted Jones at the scene.

The passenger identified as 27-year-old Anthone Domineek Angel of Houston had an outstanding warrant for criminal mischief out of Harris County and was detained. The driver identified as 30-year-old Edison Albert Williams of Missouri advised he did have marijuana in the vehicle and Deputy Jones located a bag in the vehicle containing marijuana.

Both subjects were placed under arrest and transported to the Dan R. Beck Justice Center charged with Possession of Marijuana, and subject Angel charged with tampering with evidence and an active warrant for criminal mischief.
