City election day is May 1 in Fayette County. Early voting will be at the Fayette County Courthouse, room 108, from April 19-April 27. On April 19 you can vote from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. April 20-23 you can vote early from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. April 26 you can vote from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. and April 27 you can vote from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Fayette County Sheriff Keith Korenek reports activities of Fayette County Sheriff Deputies for the month of March. Deputy Ben Wilson spoke to an individual in Fayette County which was reportedly harassing another person out of state.

On Friday, March 26, “And Then A New Day” held a Sensory Friendly Easter Bunny Event to highlight World Autism Awareness Day. Inclusion is a focal point of our organization, and we wanted to provide an opportunity for our members and others, who have learning challenges, to enjoy the Easter holiday in a manner that suited their needs. A Fayetteville student, alongside our members, was able to meet the Easter Bunny, participate in an egg hunt, and other Easter fun.

Flatonia Catholic Daughter Court No. 2570 Sacred Heart of Mother Teresa recently awarded AnaLyn Kozelsky with a check for her two First Place entries in the National CDA Education Contest. AnaLyn entered the Essay and Poetry Categories in Division 3 (Grades 9-12). This year’s theme was “Let all you do be done with Love” 1 Cor16:14. Entries were accepted from Grades 4-12 and applications were available thru CDA members. Sadly, distracted driving is still near the top of the list when it comes to crashes on Texas roadways, coming in at No. 2 for traffic crash causes. Last year Texas roadways saw nearly 1 in 5 crashes caused by a distracted driver in which 364 people died and 2,200 were seriously injured.

The County owns a narrow piece of property that a neighbor wants to buy, but the effort may prove more trouble than what the property is worth. The five-acre property in question lies in Pct.

Fayette County Commissioners Court signed a proclamation designating the week of April 25 to May 2 as Soil & Water Stewardship Week in Fayette County.
