Sheriff Keith Korenek Reports on March Activities, Firearms Stolen Near Cistern
Fayette County Sheriff Keith Korenek reports activities of Fayette County Sheriff Deputies for the month of March.
Deputy Ben Wilson spoke to an individual in Fayette County which was reportedly harassing another person out of state. The suspect was warned and no further issues were reported. Wilson also responded to Business 71 near State Highway 71 for an abandoned vehicle. The vehicle was impounded and the last registered owner was notified by mail.
Investigator Marc Bennett is currently investigating a burglary of a weekend home in the Cistern area where numerous firearms were stolen. Bennett also spoke to a resident in the county who reported a scam of a lottery winning.
Sergeant Ron Naumann is investigating juveniles trespassing in the Fayetteville area where they were caught on camera.
Sergeant Charles Jobb responded to Stuermer’s Store in Ledbetter for an attempted burglary. The window to the store was damaged and no items were reported missing. Jobb also responded to Alber’s Road in the Waldeck area for a suspicious person and vehicle. Jobb made the location and found the driver of the vehicle to be ill and medics were called.
Deputy Terry Guentert took a report of identity theft where an unknown person was using personal information to attempt to draw unemployment. Guentert also responded to a vehicle fire on Interstate 10. The fire was caused by a blown tire.
Deputy A.J. Gonzales responded to a vehicle fire on Interstate 10 near the 665 mile marker. The fire was extinguished and the vehicle was found to be stolen from the Austin area. Gonzales also stopped a vehicle on Interstate 10 for a traffic violation. The driver was arrested for possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana, and unlawfully carrying of a weapon.
Deputy Herman Olvera responded to a structure fire near the Muldoon area. During the fire the property owner was found to be stealing electrical power from the pole. The property owner was arrested and charged additionally with resisting arrest.
Deputy Joe Gonzales took a criminal mischief report where a vehicle drove on the new basketball court and caused damage at the City of Carmine City Park. Gonzales also responded to an inquest in the Round Top area. The death was of natural causes.
Deputy Michael Krenek responded to an accident in the La Grange area.
Deputy Tammy McCleney took a report of illegal dumping on Rauch Road. The responsible party was located and removed the illegally dumped material. McCleney also spoke with a mentally ill person. The mentally ill person was transported to the hospital for further evaluation.
Deputy Jared Michalec responded to the Kirtley area for a suspicious vehicle parked in a driveway of a residence. The vehicle was located and the driver of the vehicle was found passed out. Further investigation resulted in the occupant of the vehicle being arrested for possession of a controlled substance. Michalec also stopped a driver of a vehicle in the La Grange area where the driver was found to be in possession of a vape pen containing THC oil. The driver of the vehicle was arrested for possession of a controlled substance.
Deputy Seth Nagel stopped the driver of a vehicle for an equipment violation on State Highway 71 near Bordosky Road. The driver of the vehicle was found to be in possession of cocaine and was arrested. Nagel also stopped the driver of a vehicle on State Highway 71 near Power Plant Road for a moving violation. The driver of the vehicle was arrested for two outstanding warrants from the Brookshire Police Department.
Deputy Orlando Buitron transported a mentally ill patient to Cross Creek Hospital in Austin for further treatment. Buitron also stopped the driver of a vehicle on State Highway 71 near Old Lockhart Road for a traffic violation. The driver was found to be in possession of THC oil and was arrested.
Jail Administrator Ed Sawyer reports that Fayette County Correction Officers booked in 59 individuals for the month of March and transported two individuals to the Texas Department of Corrections Facilities to begin serving time for crimes committed in Fayette County.
