Group Holds Sensory Friendly Easter Bunny Event in March

On Friday, March 26, “And Then A New Day” held a Sensory Friendly Easter Bunny Event to highlight World Autism Awareness Day. Inclusion is a focal point of our organization, and we wanted to provide an opportunity for our members and others, who have learning challenges, to enjoy the Easter holiday in a manner that suited their needs. A Fayetteville student, alongside our members, was able to meet the Easter Bunny, participate in an egg hunt, and other Easter fun.

Our event also provided the opportunity for local community interaction. And Then has a goal to encourage and facilitate interactions for our special need’s members with the general public. We believe that we can learn from each other’s differences and work together to create an environment where all are welcomed and accepted. To highlight this idea, the And Then Day Program prepped, hid eggs, and participated in sharing a lesson on diversity and acceptance with Early Childhood Education members of St. Rose of Lima Catholic School. Just like Easter eggs we all look different. Whether it be different hair styles, different skin color, different body shapes, different physical and mental abilities, when we take the time to look deeper, we discover we all have the same heart- a gift from God who first loved us.

And Then is not only a provider for those with special needs whom have aged out but also offers its services to those needing assistance with social skills or parent support events.
