Villanueva Dies in Guadalupe County Wreck

The Guadalupe County Sheriff’s Office responded Tuesday afternoon to a major vehicle collision in the 4100 block of Highway 46, near the intersection of Elm Grove. At approximately 4:30 p.m., a 2014 orange Dodge Charger left the roadway, rolled over, and came to rest in the backyard of a nearby residence.

La Grange Main Street announced the winners of the this year’s wassail contest from the La Grange Scmeckenfest Celebration on the Square, which took place last Thursday, Dec. 4.
Blissful Folly Farms were named Schmeckenmeisters of the “leaded” division.

Wagner Bags the ‘Moravia Monster’

Last Thursday Josh Wagner of Schulenburg bagged what may be the largest buck ever recorded in this part of Texas – with a shot through his laundry room window, no less. Wagner harvested the buck at his place in Moravia, just across the county line in Lavaca County.

River Followup: Is The Water Safe?

In last Friday’s story about the explosion of vegeation recently in the Colorado River, we reported that the Lower Colorado River Authority attributes at least some of the vegetative growth to wastewater effluent released upstream. Most of that effluent comes from the City of Austin.
