The public is invited to attend the Fayette County Republican Women General Meeting on Wednesday, Feb. 18 from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. at Frisch Auf! The Alliance is a nonprofit organization that educated the public about the implications of advance AI. LG Student Places In the District Peace Poster Competition

Harmony Rogers of La Grange Elementary School won third place at the district level of the Lions International Peace Poster Contest. For nearly four decades, the Lions International Peace Poster Contest has given children ages 11-13 the opportunity to share what peace means to them through art.

Central Texas Food Bank The Central Texas Food Bank will be in the parking lot of Waldeck Evangelical Lutheran Church on Feb. 21 from 10-11 a.m. It is located near the intersection of FM 1291 and FM 2145.

Local Food Survey Gains Momentum, Residents Encouraged to Respond

Despite recent winter freezes across the region, the Fayette and Colorado Counties Local Food Survey is gaining strong community participation. Organizers report that more than 150 residents and food producers have already completed the survey, with new responses arriving daily. Community leaders are now encouraging additional households to participate before the March 15 deadline.

City Council Gets Earful From Citizens

At last Monday’s meeting the La Grange City Council considered a request from staff to apply for a community grant from the Lower Colorado River Authority for improvements at Hope Hill Park. The grant provides up to $100,000 with a required 20 percent match, if awarded.

La Grange Man Arrested Friday on Drug Charges

Sheriff Keith Korenek reports that on the morning of Friday, Feb. 13 the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics unit, along with Deputies and the La Grange Police Department, executed a search warrant for a residence on North Jackson in La Grange. A resident, Justin Grant, age 20 of La Grange, was arrested for the offense of possession of a controlled substance PG2. Grant was transported and booked into the Dan R. Beck Justice Center.
