One of the most common questions Turtle Wing receives from families, educators, and daycare providers has to do with struggles with their child’s behavior or the behavior of a child in their care. Is the issue related to developmental issues? How can the behaviors be avoided or managed? What is the best way to provide full circle support with the family and the school or care provider? These topics will be addressed at the next training provided by Turtle Wing Foundation for early childhood providers, teachers, and parents. This training will be on Thursday, May 13 from 6-8 p.m.at the Fayette County Ag Building 255 Svoboda Ln, La Grange, TX.

At La Grange Independent School District a new superintendent secretary/board secretary has been selected to replace Nora Otto, who will be retiring at the end of June. Tina Huenefeld, a longtime LGISD employee will assume Otto’s role beginning July 1.

Join a group to “Check Out the Czechs” on Sunday, May 16. The group will meet after Sunday School at Holy Cross Lutheran Church and venture to the Fayette County Fairgrounds in La Grange. There will be a $10 plate lunch of fried chicken and trimmings, as well as music from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. You will have the opportunity to visit the museum and grounds, attend a car show and see a saw mill demonstration. CASA of Bastrop, Fayette and Lee Counties is pleased to announce their recent appointments. Pictured from left is: Rece Betts, Megan Gandy, and Lucia Wood as Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASAs) by Judge Benton Eskew on April 20. CASA of Bastrop, Fayette and Lee Counties endeavors to provide trained volunteer advocates in all abuse and neglect foster care cases assigned by the courts. CASA volunteers are screened and highly trained and then appointed by judges to represent and advocate for a child’s best interest in the child protection system. The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Farm Service Agency (FSA) announced that signup has reopened for the Coronavirus Food Assistance Program 2 (CFAP 2) as part of the Pandemic Assistance for Producers initiative. The initial CFAP 2 signup ended on Dec. 11, 2020, but USDA has reopened sign-up for CFAP 2 for at least 60 days beginning April 5 for producers to apply or make modifications to existing CFAP 2 applications.

The sounds of spring are going on at Navidad Valley Community Connections. NVCC had 19 members in the other day and had to shuffle for seating, but it was like one big happy family in the center, especially when the lunchtime meal was shared. The fellowship is so welcomed and much needed.
