Behavior Management Strategies Offered at Training For Parents, Child Care Providers
One of the most common questions Turtle Wing receives from families, educators, and daycare providers has to do with struggles with their child’s behavior or the behavior of a child in their care. Is the issue related to developmental issues? How can the behaviors be avoided or managed? What is the best way to provide full circle support with the family and the school or care provider? These topics will be addressed at the next training provided by Turtle Wing Foundation for early childhood providers, teachers, and parents. This training will be on Thursday, May 13 from 6-8 p.m.at the Fayette County Ag Building 255 Svoboda Ln, La Grange, TX.
The presenter is Loueva Hatfield, M.Ed., who is the owner of Hatch Learning Habitat in Weimar. Loueva Hatfield holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Duke University and a master’s degree in educational supervision and administration from the UHV. Mrs. Hatfield’s career spans the last 30 years, including work in both public and private educational arenas. She has been a teacher, special education director, special programs director as well as executive director of a residential treatment center for children with emotional, behavioral, selfhelp, sensory-motor integration, and cognitive challenges including those on the autism spectrum. Through discussion, practice, and review of real-life situations, participants will be able to identify why inappropriate behaviors are occurring, respond to behaviors based on their function, prevent problem behaviors, and teach replacement behaviors.

This training is offered thanks to a collaboration between Turtle Wing Foundation and Schulenburg/Weimar Area Parents as Teachers Program and is funded by a grant from Fayette Electric Cooperative & Co-Bank.
Turtle Wing has been providing Early Intervention, Supplemental Services, and Community Education & Advocacy programming to children and families from Colorado, Fayette, Lavaca and surrounding counties with academic, social-emotional, behavioral, and/or developmental needs since 2012. Their mission is “helping children with learning challenges in rural areas achieve their full potential.” Last year over 300 children received direct services with thousands more benefiting indirectly through education and advocacy work.
