Fayette Electric Cooperative will celebrate its 84th annual membership meeting in a new way. With safety its primary concern, the co-op’s board of directors discussed options for this year’s event and after careful consideration decided to host Fayette EC’s first virtual annual meeting Wednesday, July 21. At the time that plans were being made in February, the Centers for Disease Control was still advising against large gatherings.

The story in Friday’s paper about the bridge on Haw Creek Road incorrectly stated that the bridge was originally located on Willow Springs Road. According to local historian Rox Ann Johnson, the bridge was actually located at Breeding’s Crossing on the old Fayetteville-Industry Road which ran slightly south of the current Hwy 159.
