Teenager Arrested for DUI in Schulenburg
Schulenburg Police arrested a teenager for driving under the influence Wednesday night, June 30.
According to a report from the department, Officer Duane Meagher stopped a vehicle around 9:15 p.m. for running a red light at the intersection of the Interstate 10 eastbound exit ramp and US Highway 77.
Meagher spoke with the driver who stated he did not have a driver’s license. The report said Meagher observed an open pack of Michelob beer on the passenger side floorboard. Meagher asked the driver how old he was and the driver replied he was 17.
The report said Meagher searched the vehicle and located a rolled marijuana cigarillo and two vape pens along with the alcohol.
“The driver admitted to drinking multiple beers prior to driving and the odor of an alcoholic beverage was emitting from his person,” the report stated.
Officer Meagher arrested the driver for driving under the influence of alcohol by a minor and transported him to the Dan R. Beck Justice Center in La Grange for booking.
The driver was also issued citations for driving without a license and possession of drug paraphernalia.
