Navidad Valley Community Center Welcomes All Seniors

We have a heavy heart at the Navidad Valley Community Connections Center right now because we have lost some good friends this past week. Both Fawn Zimmerman and Elton Kaase were well known in Schulenburg as they went about their daily lives.

Some called Fawn the “Schulenburg Ambassador” as she knew everyone and everyone who knew Fawn, knew how active in the community she was, especially at the Baptist Church, and how well known she was around town. Elton Kaase was always at the center with us on Monday, as he was our serving line buddy. He was so generous with his gifts and many of us enjoyed the small pecan pies and peanut brittle that he would bring to the center for bingo prizes. He volunteered to help with anything, and was always available if you needed a favor.

They both lived good, long lives here with us and can now enjoy the rewards.

NVCC members had an awesome time this past week at the center and the highlight of the week was welcoming people back to the center like Allen and Jeanette Hoelscher, Evelyn Kusy and her girls, and Kathy Carpenter who brought a friend for bunco day, and Janice Jaresh, who is a good bunco player. NVCC is so happy to see some new faces, as well as welcoming others who have come back to enjoy the company of their old friends and neighbors.

The “Let’s Talk Gardening” group enjoy getting together once a month to discuss what’s going on in their gardens with others who are going through the same experiences. Things are getting so much better at the center and we invite you to come back and get involved again.
