Local parents of school children may be able to get more COVID relief funds in the form of money for food on an EBT card, but people just have until Aug. 13 to sign up if they have not done so.

The area will include seating options for dining, an area for live music performances, and outdoor games canopied by the beautiful live oaks on that side of the property.

Navidad Valley CattleWomen will hold their 8th Annual 5K Ranch Run on Aug. 7 in conjunction with the Schulenburg Festival. Online registration will remain open until Thursday, Aug. 5, at http://getmeregistered.com/NVCattleWomen5K. Additionally, there will be onsite registration starting at 6 a.m. on race day. There is a shorter one-mile option for those who want to join-in but may not be ready to tackle the 5K.

Muldoon is getting some much needed street repairs done by the county. The corner of Second and Cochran Streets has been in disrepair for a while with large potholes. The county has brought in a crew and is doing the repairs. Hopefully the drainage problem in that corner will be corrected to help keep the street in good shape.

Although Texas leads the nation in child heatstroke deaths, the state did go nearly 7 months into 2021 without a child dying from heatstroke in a vehicle. Sadly, that changed on July 16th when a 3-year-old child was found unresponsive in a vehicle in Tyler, making this the first heatstroke death of the year in Texas and the ninth child heatstroke death for the nation in 2021.These deaths are totally preventable.
